Andy Wong, B. Sc., Geology, FCGA, FCPA, CFP
Andy graduated from the University of Saskatchewan. After graduation, Andy entered the Certified General Accountants Program of Professional studies where he obtained the professional CPA, CGA designation. He also successfully obtained the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.
Andy received the converted Fellowship designation in 2012 for his long-standing community volunteerism in the north.
Andy has over 31 years of public practice experience in the north. His practice focuses on taxation, estate and financial planning and small business advisory. He also has extensive experience assisting not-for-profit organizations and charities with GST and taxation matters.
Andy is an avid endurance athlete. He has competed in multi-day cycling and running events in North America and Asia. In 2009, he founded the popular 500-kilometer, 3-day, Yellowknife to Hay River, NT, bicycle ride www.yk2hr.com
Over the last three decades, Andy has volunteered for numerous not-for-profit organizations and government Boards. He served as the chairperson of the Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission of the Northwest Territories during 2002-2005. See his CV here
Andy has written tax articles for financial magazines such as IE Money, MoneySense and Canadian MoneySavers, and as a tax columnist at Financial Post and NewsNorth. He has been a guest speaker at CBC North Radio and Television.
Andy has lectured for the CGA Association of the NWT/NU. He has also presented tax seminars for the CPA Association of the NWT/NU. In 2012, he was guest-lectured at ten universes across eastern China at the invitation of Techscien Professional Education Institute of China.
